Variety Spotlights Hollywood's Next Generation of Talent

Variety's annual celebration of young talent is in full swing, as the publication's co-Editor in Chief, Ramin Setoodeh, reveals the process behind selecting this year's honorees. The August 6th issue, available both in print and online, features musician Tyla and actors Sam Nivola and Finn Wolfhard as the cover stars, representing the "future of Hollywood."

Setoodeh explains that Variety's reporters in their 20s play a crucial role in identifying the rising stars, providing insights and suggestions that often introduce the editors to new names. "This issue is full of names that you should know," he says, emphasizing that while some may not be familiar with every individual featured, they will be in the months and years to come.

Alongside the Young Hollywood cover story, the issue also includes Variety's annual New Leaders section, surveying up-and-coming industry professionals, as well as the "10 Assistants to Watch" feature. The publication's senior media reporter, Gene Maddaus, also provides an update on the upcoming WGA West election, where a key focus will be securing additional funding for the guild's health plan. There is also growing momentum for the WGA West to begin an organizing drive for writers working on YouTube shows, reflecting the platform's increasing influence in the entertainment landscape.
