In a bittersweet announcement, Universal Orlando Resort has revealed that its iconic roller coaster, the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, will be permanently closing on August 17, 2025 after 16 years of operation. The steel thrill ride, which stands at 161 feet tall and 3,200 feet long, was the largest X-car model coaster by the German manufacturer Maurer Sohne when it first opened on August 19, 2009.
One of the most unique features of the Rip Ride Rockit was the ability for passengers to choose from a selection of five songs to listen to during the ride, including hits by My Chemical Romance, ABBA, Shania Twain, Kendrick Lamar, and Darude. This personalized music experience added an extra layer of excitement to the already adrenaline-pumping journey.
While Universal has not yet revealed what will replace the Rip Ride Rockit, fans are speculating that it will be another thrilling attraction to join the park's impressive lineup of coasters, such as the VelociCoaster, the Incredible Hulk, and Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. With the closure of this iconic ride, a new chapter begins for Universal Orlando Resort, leaving thrill-seekers eagerly anticipating what the future holds.
