Taika Waititi Celebrates 50th Birthday with A-List Guests in Ibiza

On August 19, 2025, Taika Waititi, the renowned New Zealand actor, comedian, and filmmaker, celebrated his 50th birthday with a star-studded bash on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Waititi, who is known for his work on films like Thor: Ragnarok, shared a collection of snapshots from the event on Instagram, accompanied by a heartfelt caption.

The party was attended by a host of A-list celebrities, including Matt Damon, Sebastian Stan, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kate Moss, and Waititi's longtime friend and collaborator, Jemaine Clement. In one of the photos, Clement appeared to be giving a speech as the guest of honor let out a huge laugh.

Waititi credited his wife, singer Rita Ora, for organizing the event, describing her as the "supreme leader" and "ultimate party event guru" who "went all out" on the celebration. Ora also shared her own photos from the bash, expressing her pride in Waititi's achievements and the joy of having their family and friends come together to celebrate.

The director revealed that the "best surprise of all" was when his cousins flew in to perform a haka and present him with a mere pounamu, a traditional Māori greenstone pendant. Waititi expressed his gratitude for the love and support he received, saying that he feels "loved and happy" and that "fifty feels so good."
