Summary
- Sundance-winning film 'Cactus Pears' to release in Indian theaters
- Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media to distribute the film
- Prime Video India secures exclusive streaming rights for Maddock Films' upcoming titles

In a significant development, the Sundance-winning film 'Cactus Pears' has secured an Indian theatrical release through a deal with Rana Daggubati's Spirit Media. This announcement comes as Prime Video India has also inked a multi-year post-theatrical licensing agreement with Maddock Films, securing worldwide exclusive streaming rights to eight highly anticipated upcoming titles from the Indian production house.
The Prime Video-Maddock Films deal includes films from the popular horror-comedy universe, such as 'Thama' starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, which is part of the 'Stree' franchise. The slate also features franchise expansions 'Shiddat 2' and 'Badlapur 2', as well as Sriram Raghavan's 'Ikkis' starring Agastya Nanda. These titles will be available to Prime members across more than 240 countries and territories shortly after their theatrical releases.
The collaboration builds on the success of 'Stree 2', the latest installment in Maddock's horror-comedy franchise, which became one of Prime Video's biggest global streaming hits and helped expand the film's fanbase beyond its theatrical run. Maddock Films, led by CEO and founder Dinesh Vijan, has a reputation for delivering hits like 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Cocktail', and 'Stree', and this deal further strengthens their partnership with Prime Video.
