Summary
- 'Son of Sardaar 2' had a modest opening, collecting ₹6.75 crore on its first day
- Faced strong competition from 'Dhadak 2', which earned ₹3.35 crore on Day 1
- Occupancy rate was just 22.56%, with night shows seeing the highest turnout

Ajay Devgn's highly anticipated comedy-drama 'Son of Sardaar 2' finally hit cinemas on August 1, 2025, after facing several delays. The sequel to the 2012 hit 'Son of Sardaar' sees Devgn reprising his role as Jassi Randhawa in a new, love-fuelled adventure. However, the film had a modest start at the box office, collecting approximately ₹6.75 crore on its opening day.
While the numbers aren't bad, they pale in comparison to Devgn's earlier 2025 release, 'Raid 2', which made a much stronger ₹19.25 crore on its opening day. The occupancy rate for 'Son of Sardaar 2' on the first day was just 22.56%, with night shows witnessing the highest turnout at 40.27%. Morning shows recorded a mere 10.24%, while the afternoon and evening shows managed 17.88% and 21.84%, respectively.
The film also faced strong competition from another big release, Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi's 'Dhadak 2'. The romantic drama collected ₹3.35 crore on its opening day, but Ajay Devgn's comedy came out on top with ₹6.75 crore. Despite the star's strong fan following and a wide release across the country, 'Son of Sardaar 2' failed to ignite the box office in the same way as its predecessor.
