Summary
- Karen Gillan cast as Heather, wife of Conor MacLeod in Highlander reboot
- Gillan excited to play a Scottish character, unlike her previous roles

In the past few years, Scottish actress Karen Gillan has transitioned from her breakout role as Amy Pond in Doctor Who to becoming a full-fledged movie star. She has since appeared in major franchises like Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and the modern Jumanji films. Now, Gillan has added another high-profile project to her resume - the Highlander reboot.
According to reports, Gillan will play the role of Heather, the mortal wife of Conor MacLeod, portrayed by Henry Cavill. This character was originally played by Beatie Edney in the 1986 Highlander film. It remains to be seen if Gillan's Heather will be utilized in a similar way or if the character will have an expanded role in the reboot.
Gillan, who is Scottish herself, expressed excitement about being able to embrace her roots in this new role, unlike her previous parts where she had to adopt different accents. This Highlander reboot will also serve as a reunion for Gillan and her Guardians of the Galaxy co-star Dave Bautista, who has been cast as the villainous Kurgan.
