Sarah Jessica Parker Refuses to Watch Her Iconic "Sex and the City" Role

As of August 17, 2025, Sarah Jessica Parker, the acclaimed actress who has portrayed the iconic character of Carrie Bradshaw since 1998, remains steadfast in her decision to avoid watching her most famous projects. During a recent Q&A event, Parker candidly discussed her reluctance to revisit "And Just Like That..." and the original "Sex and the City" series.

The 60-year-old Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award-winner explained that she has no interest in tuning in, despite being urged by others to do so. Parker expressed that she simply does not enjoy watching herself on screen, finding the experience "not pleasant" and "not enjoyable." She added that the further removed she becomes from the characters, the more complicated it would be for her to revisit them due to sentimental and emotional reasons.

However, Parker's co-star John Corbett, who reprised his role as Aidan Shaw in the "Sex and the City" revival, took a different approach. Corbett, whom Parker described as "beloved" and "deeply fond of," revealed that he rewatched the entire original series before returning to the franchise. Parker noted that Corbett was "so swept away and so sentimental" about the experience, and "so proud of the work."

Despite her aversion to watching her own performances, Parker acknowledged that the "Sex and the City" universe has a massive and devoted following, with fans who often know more about the characters she portrayed than she does. The actress expressed her appreciation for these dedicated fans, who are willing to share their extensive knowledge of the series with her.
