4 Aug
Summary
- Rogen and Byrne want to reunite with Efron for Platonic
- Creators say Efron cameo would be "amazing stunt casting"
- Neighbors co-stars had great chemistry on-screen

As of August 4th, 2025, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, who co-starred with Zac Efron in the 2014 film Neighbors, have expressed their desire to work with him again on their Apple TV+ series Platonic. Byrne, 46, told The Hollywood Reporter that she "doesn't understand why that hasn't come to fruition yet" and that she has the idea of bringing Efron, 37, and their Neighbors co-star Ike Barinholtz onto the show.
Rogen, 43, echoed Byrne's sentiments, saying "We need to get Ike [Barinholtz] and Zac in Platonic. That'd be great." Platonic co-creator Francesca Delbanco also chimed in, stating that having Efron appear would be an "amazing stunt casting" if they get a second season.
Efron's comedic talents were on full display in Neighbors, where he played the head of a fraternity determined to force their neighbors, played by Rogen and Byrne, out of the neighborhood. The 2014 film was a box office success, grossing over $270 million worldwide.
Rogen and Byrne have continued their on-screen partnership in Platonic, which premiered its first season earlier this year. The pair play co-dependent best friends, and Rogen has noted that their strong chemistry is a key factor in their continued collaboration.
