"Project Runway" Revamp Brings Back Heidi Klum, Embraces Fashion's Evolution

In July 2025, the beloved fashion competition series "Project Runway" is undergoing a complete creative overhaul as it moves from Bravo to Disney and Freeform. Executive producer Michael Rucker, who previously worked on the show's first five seasons, is spearheading the revamp, aiming to infuse more comedy and spectacle back into the series.

One of the key changes is the return of original host Heidi Klum, who had departed the show in 2018 to pursue a more professional-focused fashion competition with "Making the Cut." Klum is eager to capture more unfiltered conversations and embrace the show's goofy and funny side, as opposed to the more rigid format it had drifted towards in recent years.

Joining Klum on the judging panel is fashion stylist Law Roach, known for his work with celebrities like Zendaya. Rucker sees Roach as bringing a contemporary voice to "Project Runway," similar to the critical eye that longtime judge Michael Kors had provided in the past. The show will also feature guest appearances from Kors himself this season.

While beloved mentor Tim Gunn will not be returning, Christian Siriano, who took over the role in 2017, remains in the position, as the team wanted to honor the brand he has established for himself since then.

With a focus on embracing the evolution of fashion, the show will feature more visually arresting challenges and finale fashion shows that move beyond the typical Bryant Park tents, reflecting how the industry has expanded its horizons in recent years.
