In the lead-up to India's Independence Day, Netflix is preparing to release its newest high-stakes espionage thriller, 'Saare Jahan Se Accha'. Set in the volatile 1970s, the series follows Vishnu Shankar, a R&AW agent on a dangerous mission deep inside enemy territory - Pakistan. With the world teetering on the edge of nuclear war, Vishnu must stop a covert program before it sparks irreversible devastation.
Pratik Gandhi, who plays the lead role, says that in Vishnu's world, "there's no room for error" as every move is calculated and every emotion buried. The actor was drawn to the "intensity beneath the stillness" and the emotional toll of being an invisible hero fighting for India. Sunny Hinduja co-stars as Vishnu's fierce rival, Murtaza Mallik, a highly disciplined and dangerous Pakistani agent whose only mission is to serve his nation, just like Vishnu.
According to Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, 'Saare Jahan Se Accha' offers a unique perspective by telling the story through the eyes of the unsung heroes whose quiet sacrifices paved the way for India's pride and victory. With a stellar ensemble cast and sleek, cinematic storytelling, the series promises to be one of the most powerful spy sagas of the year, exclusively premiering on Netflix on August 13.
