In just a few weeks, Disney fans will be able to revisit the beloved story of "Lilo & Stitch" in a brand-new live-action adaptation. The film, which is set to premiere on Disney+ on September 3, 2025, follows the adventures of a young Hawaiian girl named Lilo and her unlikely alien friend, Stitch.
Lilo, played by newcomer Maia Kealoha, is an oddball outcast in her community who lives with her older sister, Nani (Sydney Agudong). When Stitch, a mischievous blue alien, crash-lands on Earth, Lilo quickly befriends the creature, much to the dismay of the extraterrestrials who are hunting him. As the two become inseparable, they find themselves on the run, with Lilo determined to protect her new friend.
The live-action remake, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, features a talented cast that includes Billy Magnussen as Agent Wendell Pleakley, Hannah Waddingham as the Grand Councilwoman, Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, and Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles. Fans of the original 2000 animated film will also be delighted to see cameos from the original cast, including Amy Hill, Tia Carrere, and Jason Scott Lee.
