In a recent YouTube podcast, veteran producer-director Mahesh Bhatt praised his actor-daughter Alia Bhatt for being a self-made actor. Bhatt revealed that Alia was not launched by him, but rather by Karan Johar, and had to undergo auditions to prove her talent. The producer expressed his surprise at Alia's "thirst for acting," saying he had not seen such traits in her before.
Bhatt also shared his son-in-law Ranbir Kapoor's perspective on Alia. The 'Saaransh' (1984) director said that Ranbir described Alia as being "made of different stuff," with an "ambition to do more and more" that is "unbelievably astounding." In contrast, Bhatt described Ranbir as a "laid-back and comforted" person who "just wants to do enough."
Alia and Ranbir, who got married in an intimate traditional ceremony in 2022, have previously collaborated on the film 'Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva.' The couple will also be seen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming 'Love And War' (2026). Additionally, Alia will be starring in the espionage-thriller 'Alpha' (2025) and making a cameo appearance in Hrithik Roshan's 'War 2' (2025).
