"Honeyland" Director's New Film "The Tale of Silyan" Premieres at Venice and Toronto

Dogwoof, the renowned documentary distribution company, has acquired the international sales rights for "The Tale of Silyan," the latest film from acclaimed director Tamara Kotevska. The announcement comes just days before the film's world premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, followed by its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"The Tale of Silyan" marks Kotevska's second collaboration with Dogwoof, following the success of her 2019 documentary "Honeyland," which received two Academy Award nominations and won multiple awards at the Sundance Film Festival. In "The Tale of Silyan," Kotevska once again turns her lens towards the natural world, this time exploring the intertwined lives of a white stork named Silyan and a Macedonian farmer, Nikola.

The film's narrative unfolds as Nikola, abandoned by his family, rescues the injured Silyan from a landfill site. As the two form an unexpected bond, they find solace and companionship in each other's solitude. Kotevska describes the film as a "real-life fairytale," with the white storks serving as a "perfect mirror of humanity" and offering a "stark warning about the direction we are heading."

With Dogwoof handling the international sales and UTA Independent Film Group representing the film for North American and worldwide distribution, "The Tale of Silyan" is poised to captivate audiences around the globe. Concordia Studio, the production company behind the film, has fully financed the project since coming on board in early 2024.
