Filmmaker Teases Potential Alien vs. Predator Crossover in New Movie

As the 2025 movie and TV calendar shapes up, fans of the Predator and Alien franchises have plenty to look forward to. With new installments of both series in the works, there is growing speculation about whether the two iconic sci-fi universes will merge once again.

During a recent interview at San Diego Comic-Con, the director of the upcoming Predator: Badlands film, Dan Trachtenberg, shared his thoughts on the possibility of an Alien vs. Predator crossover. Trachtenberg acknowledged that his movie already includes some nods to the Alien universe, such as the presence of an android character from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. However, the filmmaker emphasized that he wants to carefully integrate the two franchises, rather than simply "smashing action figures together."

Trachtenberg expressed his enthusiasm for both the Predator and Alien franchises, and he seems open to the idea of a future crossover. At the same time, he wants to ensure that any such collaboration feels organic and well-developed, rather than feeling forced. As the director noted, a gradual "build" to the next Alien vs. Predator installment may be the best approach.

While there are theories that Predator: Badlands could serve as a stepping stone to a full-blown crossover, Trachtenberg described it as more of a "toe dip" into the shared universes. Nonetheless, the film does feature several Easter eggs, including the skull of a Xenomorph on a trophy wall, hinting at the potential for deeper connections to the Alien franchise.
