In a move to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Broadway hit "Hamilton," Disney is set to release the filmed version of the musical in theaters on September 5. The film, which was originally taped in 2016 and premiered on Disney+ in 2020, will now be available for a wider audience to experience on the big screen.
The theatrical release will include an exclusive special prologue titled "Reuniting the Revolution," featuring all-new interviews with the original cast and creators as they reflect on the impact the show has had on their lives. This expanded version of the Tony, Grammy, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning production aims to capture the energy and excitement of the live performance.
To further commemorate the occasion, a special premiere screening event will take place on September 3 at the Delacorte Theater, the home of The Public Theater's Free Shakespeare in the Park. A limited number of advance tickets will be available for a donation, with all proceeds benefiting The Public Theater, where "Hamilton" first debuted in 2015 before transferring to Broadway.
