Old Dominion's Matthew Ramsey recently spoke to Billboard, stating that Chesney "definitely is deserving of that, for sure." Ramsey highlighted Chesney's ability to "successfully reinvent himself" and create music that has "touched the fabric of people's lives in this country and this world." The two acts have a close musical connection, with Ramsey and Brad Tursi writing Chesney's 2015 hit "Save It for a Rainy Day," and Old Dominion opening shows for Chesney early in their career.
Chesney's illustrious career has seen him earn 33 number-one hits on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, as well as four CMA and four ACM Entertainer of the Year awards.
