Coolie Loses Steam: Rajinikanth Film Sees Steep Occupancy Drop on Day 3

On August 16, 2025, Rajinikanth's highly anticipated action film Coolie experienced a further drop in its box office performance. After a record-breaking start, the film has now seen a significant decline in its occupancy and ticket sales.

The Tamil version of Coolie managed to register an occupancy of 46.5% for the morning shows on its third day, a 27.1% drop from the previous day. Meanwhile, the Hindi version, which had witnessed a jump on day 2, has now gone downhill with a 43% drop, bringing only 17.2% occupancy for the morning shows.

Despite the occupancy decline, the film is still on track to surpass the lifetime collection of Vettaiyan, another major box office success. According to Sacnilk's hourly tracking report, Coolie had already earned in the range of 14-15 crore by 3 PM on the third day, leaving it only 14 crore away from overtaking Vettaiyan's lifetime collection of 148.32 crore in India.

The drop in occupancy and ticket sales on BookMyShow has been significant, with the film registering a 34% decline in ticket sales compared to the previous day. While the film's initial performance was record-breaking, the recent decline in momentum has raised concerns about its ability to maintain its box office dominance.
