17 Aug
Summary
- Coolie collects ₹158.25 crore in India in 3 days
- Crosses ₹300 crore globally, fastest Tamil film to reach milestone
- Strong performance in India and overseas markets

Rajinikanth's latest blockbuster, Coolie, has been setting the box office on fire since its release on August 14, 2025. The film, which clashed with Hrithik Roshan's War 2, has maintained its strong momentum and emerged as the fastest Tamil film to cross the ₹300 crore worldwide mark.
In its opening weekend, Coolie collected an impressive ₹158.25 crore in India. The film earned ₹65 crore on its first day, followed by ₹54.75 crore on the second day and ₹38.5 crore on the third day. This remarkable performance has already surpassed the lifetime earnings of Rajinikanth's previous film, Vettaiyan, which had collected ₹146.89 crore.
Globally, Coolie has crossed the ₹300 crore milestone, with trade analysts estimating the worldwide total to be between ₹320-325 crore. This achievement makes Coolie the fastest Tamil film to reach this landmark. The film is performing exceptionally well in international markets, including France, where it set a new record by selling 8,800 tickets on its opening day, surpassing Vijay's Leo.
Within India, the film has seen strong occupancy rates, particularly in cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Pondicherry, and Trichy, where the night shows peaked at 79.71%. The Hindi version of the film, titled Coolie: The Powerhouse, has also recorded a decent 38.99% occupancy rate on Saturday.
With this impressive run, Coolie is now eyeing the coveted ₹600 crore club, a feat achieved by only three other Tamil films: 2.0, Jailer, and Leo. Rajinikanth's latest offering has undoubtedly cemented its place as one of the biggest box office successes of the year.
