- Series will continue the story established by the films

In a move to expand the popular Conjuring Universe, HBO Max has greenlit a new TV series set within the franchise. The announcement comes on the heels of the recent release of The Conjuring: Last Rites, which has enjoyed strong box office performance and positive audience reception.
The Conjuring: Last Rites, marketed as the final case for paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, has already surpassed $226 million at the global box office less than a week after its September 5th, 2025 release. The film's record-breaking opening weekend has further cemented the Conjuring franchise as the highest-grossing horror series of all time.
Now, HBO Max is looking to continue the Conjuring story on the small screen. The new series will be executive produced by Peter Safran and James Wan's Atomic Monster production company, with Nancy Won serving as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The series will exclusively stream on HBO Max, though no release date or casting details have been announced yet.
The Conjuring Universe first began in 2013 with the original film, which focused on the Warrens' investigation of the Perron family's haunting. Since then, the franchise has expanded to include three more Conjuring sequels, three Annabelle movies, and a couple of The Nun chapters, collectively earning over $2.5 billion worldwide.
While the future of the Conjuring film series remains uncertain, the HBO Max series signals that the Conjuring Universe is far from over. Fans can look forward to the continued adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren, as the franchise expands its reach into the world of television.
