Bollywood Director Exposes Salman Khan's Chronic Tardiness

In a recent development, director A.R. Murugadoss has gone on record to criticize Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's unruly conduct on the sets of their film Sikandar. Murugadoss has revealed that Salman would routinely turn up hours late, keeping child actors awake until 2 am. This incident has once again shed light on a long-standing issue in the Indian film industry: the lack of discipline and dedication among some of its biggest stars.

Murugadoss' candid remarks have opened a 'Pandora's Box' on the subject of star tantrums in Bollywood. A director who has previously worked with Salman corroborates Murugadoss's claims, stating that the actor rarely arrives on set before 2-3 pm, even for morning shifts. This has made it "impossible" for many filmmakers to work with him, though producers like Sajid Nadiadwala continue to indulge Salman's behavior.

This is not the first time Salman's indiscipline has cost a project. In 2019, acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali shelved the Salman-starrer Inshallah after repeated interference and delays from the actor. Bhansali, who had previously collaborated with Salman on two of his finest works, has since vowed never to work with him again.

The issue of tardiness and unprofessionalism among Bollywood's biggest stars is not limited to Salman Khan. Veteran actors like Rajesh Khanna, Sanjeev Kumar, and Shatrughan Sinha were also known for their eccentric timings, much to the frustration of their co-stars. However, some like Hema Malini refused to tolerate such behavior, making it clear that punctuality was non-negotiable.

As Murugadoss's remarks have highlighted, the industry's silence on this matter has enabled some stars to continue their unprofessional ways. With more directors and co-stars speaking up, the hope is that Bollywood's star culture will evolve towards greater discipline and dedication.
