Summary
- NBC to produce civilian-only season of "The Traitors" reality show in 2026
- Host Alan Cumming says the money will "mean more" to non-famous contestants
- Previous seasons featured a mix of celebrities and unknown players

In a surprising move, NBC has revealed that the next season of the popular reality competition show "The Traitors" will feature an all-civilian cast, with host Alan Cumming as the only celebrity. The announcement comes as the network prepares to begin production on the non-celebrity season in 2026.
Cumming, who has hosted the show since its debut on the Peacock streaming service, expressed his excitement about the change. "I'm opening the doors of my castle not to a group of celebrities but to you, America!" he said in a teaser trailer. The application for the upcoming season is already available online at TheTraitorsUS.com, allowing anyone to apply.
While previous seasons of the U.S. version of "The Traitors" have included a mix of famous and non-famous contestants, this will be the first time that the latter will be featured exclusively. Cumming believes this shift will make the prize money more meaningful to the players. "The money will mean more to them," he said at the Televerse 2025 conference.
The announcement comes on the heels of the recently concluded third season of "The Traitors," which saw a group of Faithfuls emerge victorious, including The Bachelor's Gabby Windey, The Real Housewives' Dolores Catania, and royal Ivar Mountbatten. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season, further solidifying its popularity among viewers.
