In a major development for the film industry, acclaimed producer Michael Jackman has signed on to produce "Black Tuesday," a 100-minute real-time disaster thriller about the 1929 stock market crash that sparked the Great Depression. The film, directed by Daniel Ragussis, will dramatize the true story behind the historic market crash and its devastating global impact.
"Black Tuesday" follows Dick Whitney, the newly appointed acting president of the New York Stock Exchange, as he desperately attempts to arrange a financial rescue package to avert the crash and save the world economy. However, Whitney's own ruinous investments and personal demons set him on a collision course with his brother George, the gatekeeper to J.P. Morgan, who holds the key to preventing the catastrophic crash.
Jackman, the BAFTA-winning producer of "Conclave," expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The screenplay for 'Black Tuesday' is riveting, with its fascinating and complex characters, and its parallels to our current financial system 100 years later. Compelling and superbly written, it reveals the hidden machinations of a pivotal moment in history that we all think we know."
With Ragussis' previous directorial credits including the acclaimed thriller "Imperium," and a script co-written by R.F.I. Porto, "Black Tuesday" promises to be a gripping and historically significant cinematic experience.
