In an exciting development for Bengali cinema, acclaimed director Bratya Basu has announced that he will be adapting two short stories by renowned author Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay for his next film. Basu, who has long admired Bandopadhyay's work, has broken down and reconstructed the stories to make them relevant for today's audiences.
The film will star veteran actors Seema Biswas and Lokenath Dey as a couple in their 70s and 80s, respectively, who shared a brief courtship in their youth before going their separate ways. Decades later, they reunite as Lokenath battles Alzheimer's disease. Basu has also assembled a talented supporting cast, including Chanchal Chowdhury, Poulami Basu, Rohit Mukherjee, and Riddhi Sen.
Filming is set to take place primarily in Bolpur, with additional sequences shot in Varanasi and Kolkata. The crew includes acclaimed music director Prabuddha Bandopadhyay, cinematographer Soumik Halder, editor Sanlap Bhowmik, and creative director Partha Mazumder. Shooting is scheduled to begin after the Pujo festival.
