In a major move, the film studio A24 has breathed new life into the historic Cherry Lane Theater in New York City's West Village. After the 100-year-old theater had run into financial troubles, A24 purchased the venue in 2023 and has since undertaken a comprehensive renovation.
As part of the theater's grand reopening in September 2025, A24 has curated an impressive lineup of events and programming. The schedule includes a weeklong celebration featuring appearances by renowned figures such as Spike Lee, Jerrod Carmichael, Brandi Carlile, and Sofia Coppola. Coppola will also host a film screening series at the theater, kicking off with a showing of "Foxes" and a discussion with Jodie Foster.
Additionally, the theater will showcase theatrical productions, including the debut of Natalie Palamides' one-woman show "Weer," which is set for a five-week run starting September 20th. A24 has also partnered with the team behind the acclaimed Frenchette restaurant to open a new dining and bar establishment within the revitalized Cherry Lane Theater.
