ZZ Top has unexpectedly canceled their highly anticipated concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The abrupt cancellation occurred on Wednesday, August 5, mere hours before the band was scheduled to take the stage.
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 4, the legendary rock band cited "unforeseen personnel matters" as the cause for their inability to perform. Frontman Billy Gibbons expressed regret, stating that "insurmountable obstacles" necessitated the cancellation and thanked their dedicated fans for their understanding.
Fans who purchased tickets for the event will be eligible for a full refund. This includes any additional purchases made for transportation and parking passes related to the concert. The band's representatives were contacted for further comment.
Cheap Trick, also slated to perform, announced an intimate, sold-out show at the Troubadour on the same evening. ZZ Top, currently comprising Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and bassist Elwood Francis (who joined after Dusty Hill's passing in July 2021), is expected to continue "The Big One" tour as planned starting Friday, August 7, in Fresno, California.
