On November 18, 2025, Zubeen Garg's wife and costume designer Garima Saikia Garg marked what would have been her late husband's 53rd birthday with an emotional post on Instagram. Garg, a popular Assamese singer, had passed away in September 2022 under mysterious circumstances while on a trip to Singapore.
Garima Saikia Garg, who had married Zubeen Garg in 2002, shared a series of photos of the couple, from their early dating days to their wedding and life together. In her post, she wrote, "From this birth to the next, I will write my stories with you, Goldie... Happy birthday! Stay safe."
Garg's death had sent shockwaves through the Assamese music community. He was found dead, floating face-down in the sea in Singapore, where he had gone to attend a festival. In the months since, his widow has been demanding a proper investigation into the sequence of events leading to his final moments.
Now, the Assam government has claimed that Garg's death was a case of murder, not an accident. Seven people, including the festival organizer, Garg's cousin, and his band members, have been arrested in connection with the case. The state government aims to file a chargesheet by December 8, 2025.
As Garg's fans gathered at his cremation site to mark his birthday, singing his popular songs, Garima Saikia Garg continues to seek justice for her late husband's mysterious demise.
