The 53rd birth anniversary of the late singer Zubeen Garg was recently commemorated at Assam Bhawan in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The Kolkata Assamese Cultural Association (KACA) organized a special event to honor the beloved artist, who passed away on September 19 in Singapore. The commemoration brought together fans and cultural figures.
The evening commenced with the lighting of a lamp by dignitaries including Tapas Deb and Prof Dr Khanindra Pathak. Emerging talents such as Abhipriya Goswami and Harsh Reev Shandilya presented covers of Zubeen Garg's popular songs, while Mayurakshi Bora and others showcased dance performances. Lyricist Priyo Chattopadhyay and composer Akash Sen were also present.
Sanghati Das, who had previously performed with Zubeen Garg, shared touching anecdotes about her experiences with the singer. Her renditions of his songs deeply resonated with attendees. The event, hosted by Anuj Gogoi, culminated in an emotional collective singing of 'Mayabini Raatir Bukut', accompanied by flute and piano, leaving a lasting impression.
