Production for the feature film adaptation of the popular Indonesian horror series 'Zona Merah' is slated to begin on April 7, 2026. The film will expand the zombie-survival narrative into a more intense and challenging universe.
Directors Sidharta Tata and Fajar Martha Santosa are leading the project, with Tata also penning the screenplay. They aim to enhance the story's cohesion and deliver a more emotionally resonant and visually striking experience than the original series.
Several key cast members from 'Zona Merah' will reprise their roles, including Aghniny Haque, Andri Mashadi, Maria Theodore, Devano, and Lukman Sardi. New characters will be introduced by Luna Maya, Bryan Domani, Shindy Huang, Myesha Lin, and Derby Romero.
Luna Maya expressed enthusiasm for the project's potential, stating her dual role as an executive producer signifies a significant step in elevating local intellectual property. The directors promise a darker, more unsettling cinematic experience designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
