Zak Santiago's Life Story Gets TV Series

A television series chronicling the life of actor, former boxer, DJ, and ordained deacon Zak Santiago is in development by Front Street Pictures. This biopic drama aims to capture Santiago's unique journey, showcasing his transformation and impact.

The series is slated for an international debut at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival's Content Market. Veteran writer and producer Jonathan Lloyd Walker is set to showrun the project. Santiago himself is involved as a creator alongside John Cassini.

The narrative will explore Santiago 'Santi' Luna's transition from a former boxer with a criminal past to a redeemed Catholic deacon. The story unfolds across diverse settings including an East Vancouver church, federal prison, a boxing gym, a community center, and a nightclub DJ booth.

Santiago's own statement emphasizes the series' core theme: "showing up for people, especially when they feel forgotten, and believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to find their way back." The Canadian indie series will weave together elements of faith, boxing, music, acting, and community service.

Front Street Pictures, supported by Blink49 Studios, also has other productions premiering at TIFF, including the mystery thriller YAGA. This initiative highlights the company's commitment to diverse storytelling.
