Zahara Drops Brad Pitt's Name, Court Date Set
13 Jul
Summary
- Zahara Jolie-Pitt published legal notice to drop father's surname.
- A court hearing is scheduled for September 28 to finalize the change.
- Shiloh and Maddox have also previously filed to legally drop Pitt's surname.

Zahara Jolie-Pitt has advanced her legal process to officially remove Brad Pitt's surname, with a court hearing scheduled for September 28. She recently completed a necessary step by publishing a legal notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks, allowing any objections before a judge reviews her petition.
This publication follows Zahara's initial filing in April to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. She had already begun using the name unofficially in 2024, notably when joining her sorority at Spelman College and at her May graduation ceremony.
Zahara is not the only child of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie to seek a name change. Her siblings Shiloh and Maddox have also made legal requests to drop their father's surname, with Shiloh filing when she turned 18 in 2024 and Maddox making a similar request in May 2026. Other children, Knox and Vivienne, have also reportedly been seen using only the Jolie surname.
