Filmmaker Zack Snyder recently commemorated the tenth anniversary of his 2016 DC Extended Universe film, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Marking the occasion, Snyder shared a reflective note, emphasizing that the film represented a significant collision of ideals, fear, and power, rather than simply a superhero battle.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" premiered a decade ago, serving as a follow-up to "Man of Steel." This marked the first time Batman and Superman appeared together in a live-action film. It also introduced audiences to the first live-action cinematic version of Wonder Woman.
In the 2016 movie, the characters of Batman, portrayed by Ben Affleck, and Superman, played by Henry Cavill, were manipulated by criminal mastermind Lex Luthor. Luthor's obsession with destroying Superman fueled his plot to pit Batman against the Man of Steel.
Despite facing critical debate, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" achieved considerable box office success in 2016. It was the seventh-highest-grossing film of that year and held the record for the biggest opening weekend for a superhero film at the time of its release.
