He later commented on the backlash from "middle aged douchebags" in his direct messages.

The U.S. Navy veteran had previously alluded to Kid Rock's performance on social media, sharing a story that depicted someone covering Bad Bunny's performance to watch Kid Rock's. This occurred while Bryan was also involved in Super Bowl week activities, performing at a Madden Bowl concert where NFL player Christian McCaffrey showcased his piano skills.

Kid Rock had previously promoted the Turning Point USA event, stating it would feature "great songs for folks who love America" and framing it as a "David and Goliath" competition against the NFL and a global pop superstar. He notably mentioned Bad Bunny's planned performance, including "wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish," contrasting it with his own show's theme.
