YouTube Star Grace Helbig Turns Illness into Inspiring Live Show

In October 2025, comedian and YouTube star Grace Helbig is back on the platform after nearly a year away, with a new perspective and more life experience. Over two years ago, in July 2023, Helbig announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Following months of treatment, including chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, radiation, and hormone therapy, she is now in remission.

Helbig has channeled her experience into a new one-woman live show, "Let Me Get This Off My Chest," which she recently performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show provides a raw and vulnerable look at Helbig's journey, from the boom of her comedy career on YouTube to the period of burnout she experienced more recently. Helbig's husband, Elliott Morgan, and longtime collaborator Mamrie Hart have been by her side throughout the process.

Helbig's decision to share her diagnosis publicly was partially inspired by her friend Hank Green, who revealed his own cancer diagnosis earlier in 2023. The response from Helbig's fans has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for her openness about her experience. Helbig hopes that her show will provide audiences with "the permission to look at very serious things in a silly way."
