Yorkshire Music Fest Canceled Due to Rising Costs
22 Aug
Summary
- Yorkshire Wildlife Park's Wild Live festival concludes permanently.
- Rising operational costs and Martyn's Law cited as reasons.
- The park can no longer justify the expense of hosting the event.

The annual two-day music festival, Wild Live, hosted by Yorkshire Wildlife Park, will cease to exist after its scheduled dates on August 29 and 30, 2026. Park officials have announced the cancellation is permanent due to escalating operational costs.
Director Cheryl Williams explained that while the festival previously showed good profit margins, costs have increased exponentially. The need to hire all necessary infrastructure, coupled with increased staffing expenses due to compliance with Martyn's Law, has made the event financially unviable.
Martyn's Law, enacted in 2025 following the Manchester Arena attack, mandates security measures for certain premises and events. While Williams affirmed the importance of these measures, the associated costs of employing highly trained external staff have significantly contributed to the decision to end the festival.
