Yann Martel, celebrated Canadian author and Booker Prize winner, has released "Son Of Nobody," his first novel in a decade. The book introduces classical scholar Harlow Donne, whose opportunity to study at Oxford leads to the discovery of a lost account of the Trojan War.
Martel's new work intertwines a fictional Homeric poem with Harlow's personal footnotes addressed to his daughter. The novel was influenced by Stephen Mitchell's translation of The Iliad, Alice Oswald's "Memorial," which captured the Iliad's atmosphere, and Edward Albee's 1962 play "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf."
