Yami Gautam Dhar Seeks Romantic Roles After Acclaimed 'Haq' Performance

Yami Gautam Dhar, the acclaimed Bollywood actress, has made it clear that she wants to broaden her acting scope after her recent success in the courtroom drama 'Haq'. In a recent interview, Yami expressed her desire to take on a "pure romantic film", stating that it is "one of the easier genres, if done right, to connect with the audience."

Yami's performance in 'Haq', where she played the role of Shazia Bano, a woman fighting a legal battle against her ex-husband's refusal to pay alimony, has earned her considerable praise. The film draws inspiration from the 1985 Shah Bano case and has resonated strongly with modern audiences. Yami's humble response to the suggestion that she could be a contender for the National Film Award for her work in 'Haq' underscores her grounded approach to her craft.

Reflecting on her journey, Yami also recalled her early days in Bollywood, admitting that she "struggled to find a foothold in the industry until Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)." However, she maintains a positive outlook, stating that "What's a story without challenges, right? When you start acknowledging them and not running away from them, you start enjoying the journey."
