The Canadian mystery thriller series 'Yaga' had its first look unveiled during a San Diego Comic-Con panel. The show, which stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid, Clark Backo, and Hudson Williams, is based on a play by Kat Sandler, who also serves as writer and showrunner.
'Yaga' is described as a contemporary reimagining of the Baba Yaga myth, set in a coastal town. The series follows a private investigator, Rapp, portrayed by Noah Reid, as he looks into the vanishing of Henry Park, the heir to a powerful fishery, played by Hudson Williams.
San Diego Comic-Con attendees were shown the teaser premiere, with executive producer and showrunner Kat Sandler present. Carrie-Anne Moss and Hudson Williams, unable to attend, sent video messages. The creative team aims to reclaim the wicked witch archetype, reshaping her as a feminist antihero.
The ensemble cast also includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, and Katharine Isabelle. The series is directed by David Frazee and Rachel Talalay. 'Yaga' blends ancient magic with a compelling investigation, featuring a cast of enigmatic suspects and secret lives.
