Xolo Maridueña: From Cobra Kai to Magic Sequel

Xolo Maridueña, known for his role in Cobra Kai, expressed his joy and gratitude for joining the cast of the Practical Magic sequel. He shared that filming in London was his first experience working abroad, and he felt warmly welcomed by original stars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, describing the experience as "magical."

Maridueña's other recent project, Killing Castro, a drama about Fidel Castro's 1960 visit to the U.S., premiered on June 9 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. He stars alongside veteran actor Al Pacino in the film.

Reflecting on his career, Maridueña feels "blessed" to have worked with Hollywood legends like Kidman and Bullock, who he admires as "class acts" and exemplary leaders. He also spoke highly of his experience with Al Pacino, calling it a "pleasure" to share time with the iconic actor.

He emphasized his appreciation for the "family" created on set and expressed a desire to continue working with both established "GOATs" and emerging directors and filmmakers. The original Practical Magic film, based on Alice Hoffman's novel, premiered in 1998.

Practical Magic 2, which sees Maridueña playing the love interest to Joey King's character, Kylie Owens, is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 11. The sequel's plot involves a multigenerational family of witches attempting to break a curse.

Beyond the upcoming films, Maridueña highlighted the importance of the connections made with cast and crew, valuing the people involved in filmmaking over the specific role. He looks forward to supporting new voices in cinema.
