- Led by chef Andrew Farrugia, it took months to create.

A colossal chocolate train, measuring 55.27 meters (181 feet 3 inches) in length, has been recognized as the world's longest. This spectacular edible sculpture was unveiled in Milan's Piazza Città di Lombardia on January 26, 2026. The impressive structure comprises a detailed locomotive engine and 22 individual carriages, each crafted from 160 kilograms of pure chocolate.
The record-breaking project was spearheaded by Maltese pastry chef Andrew Farrugia, in collaboration with Italy's Consorzi di Pasticcerie Bergamo-Brescia. Chocolatiers from both Italy and Malta, alongside students from various schools, dedicated months to its creation. Using premium Belcolade chocolate, the intricate details of the vintage rail icon were meticulously hand-sculpted, beginning in October 2025, without the use of moulds.
This achievement marks Farrugia's third record, following previous successful chocolate train creations in 2012 and December 2025. The entire chocolate train weighed approximately 2,300 kilograms and was a public spectacle in Milan until its display concluded on February 20. The creation garnered significant online attention, with many expressing awe and amusement at its immense size.
