Berlin-based animation studio Woodblock is expanding its reach with ambitious new projects, including the fantasy-horror series 'Dark World.' Beyond 'Dark World,' Woodblock is developing 'Blue Marble,' a family-friendly adventure about a girl and her robot discovering cooking and searching for rare ingredients. Creative director Helen Hyung Choi developed the concept, which has transmedia potential including cookbooks and YouTube shows. Also in development is 'Space Probe Force,' a satirical series created by Tom Weber, following space explorers from the perspective of alien inhabitants.
Woodblock, founded in 2013 by Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg alumni, has grown to 50 employees across Ludwigsburg and Los Angeles. The studio recently created visuals for Sphere shows like Anyma's 'The End of Genesys' and is preparing for Illenium's 'Odyssey.' The studio is attending the European Film Market, participating in the EFM Animation Days and EFM Beyond initiatives.
