Wonka's Factory Adds Star Power to Netflix Animation

Netflix Animation Studios is expanding its universe with a new film, Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory, featuring an impressive voice cast. Joining previously announced stars Kit Connor as Charlie Paley and Taika Waititi as Willy Wonka are Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran, Samson Kayo, Christopher Chung, Kate Winslet, and Helena Bonham Carter. This new Roald Dahl adaptation promises original songs and new characters.

The film is slated for a wide theatrical release on November 5, 2027, followed by its arrival on Netflix on December 22, 2027. Sony Pictures Entertainment will manage international distribution for the theatrical run, marking a significant six-week theatrical window for the streamer. The story follows Wonka, released from prison for a past transgression, who must confront Charlie Paley and a group of children attempting to save their homes by infiltrating the factory.

In addition to the film, Netflix is extending the Wonka brand through merchandise. Ferrero Group will launch a range of 10 limited-edition Wonka products across various categories in the US and select European markets. Moose Toys has also been named the master toy partner, with a toy line expected to launch in 2027, closer to the film's release date.
