Professional dancer Witney Carson has disclosed a significant health scare from her past: a secret melanoma diagnosis. This diagnosis came just as she was set to become a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars in 2014. Doctors found a suspicious mole on her foot, and due to her family history, prompt treatment was advised to avoid chemotherapy.

Carson underwent surgery to remove the mole and several lymph nodes, keeping the entire ordeal hidden from producers and castmates. She concealed her condition to protect her career opportunity. Despite not being cleared to dance post-surgery, she returned to rehearsals, enduring intense pain and bleeding from her foot.

Remarkably, Carson competed for five weeks with a bleeding foot, receiving daily medical attention afterward without anyone knowing. Following her elimination with partner Cody Simpson, she later won the Mirrorball Trophy with Alfonso Ribeiro in Season 19. She continued to win titles, including the most recent Season 34 with Robert Irwin.

Looking ahead, Witney Carson is slated to compete in the upcoming Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars. She will be four months pregnant, making her the first professional dancer to compete openly pregnant.
