Acclaimed filmmaker Wim Wenders has joined "Truth:Beauty," a new feature documentary honoring the influential German fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, as an executive producer. This project marks the directorial debut for French novelist Alexandra Matine, who is also penning the screenplay.
The film is being developed in collaboration with the Peter Lindbergh Foundation, which will provide access to the photographer's comprehensive archives. Principal photography is slated to commence before the conclusion of the current year.
Peter Lindbergh, celebrated for his striking black-and-white portraits and natural approach to fashion photography, passed away in 2019 at the age of 74. His work significantly influenced the supermodel era and challenged industry norms.
Wenders and Lindbergh, both prominent German artists, shared a decades-long friendship and mutual artistic influence. Lindbergh's iconic "City of Angels" editorial for Harper's Bazaar was inspired by Wenders' film "Wings of Desire."
