Summary
- Wild Waves water park is closing permanently after Labor Day weekend.
- Rising costs cited as reason for closure by park operator.
- Site to be redeveloped into a 1-million-square-foot industrial warehouse.

Wild Waves water park in Federal Way is hosting its final splashes as it permanently closes after Labor Day weekend, marking the end of its 50th season. The decision to close was announced in December by operator Premier Parks, citing escalating operational costs. This closure will result in the loss of jobs for 35 full-time employees and hundreds of seasonal workers.
Plans are already underway to transform the park's 1-million-square-foot site into an industrial warehouse. Property owner Jeff Stock noted that alternative proposals, such as a hotel or convention center, generated little interest. While some theme park rides will be moved to other locations, the water slides are unfortunately slated for disposal.
The water park concludes operations after Labor Day, but the theme park side will continue with Booville starting September 26th and Fright Fest commencing October 2nd, offering haunted attractions. The park will officially cease all operations on November 1st. A special 'Thrill Pass' is available for unlimited visits through Fright Fest, ending on Labor Day.
