Manuel Figueroa will make his feature directorial debut with the coming-of-age drama 'Wild Ones.' Produced by Ruben Fleischer and Jon Watts, the film is set in the mid-1990s Latinx Los Angeles. It centers on Eddie, a senior in the blue-collar San Gabriel Valley, whose life is disrupted weeks before graduation.
Eddie meets Darlene, a responsible student, and an unexpected romance develops as they navigate their personal challenges and future plans. Figueroa, who also penned the script with Jordan Heimer, drew inspiration from his own experiences for the narrative.
Annie Gonzalez stars as Darlene. She was recently seen in 'Relationship Goals' and is known for her roles in 'Flamin' Hot' and 'Jenni.' Figueroa has a background in television writing, contributing to series like 'Stumptown' and 'Defiance,' and is currently developing other projects.
'Wild Ones' is produced by Camp Hobart and Midas Entertainment Group, with significant contributions from Fleischer, Watts, David Bernard, Darryll C. Scott, Paul Coy Allen, and Prince Baggett.
