The identity of the actress portraying Dorothy Gale in the "Wicked: For Good" sequel has been revealed as Bethany Weaver, a Pilates instructor based in Surrey. Weaver's role is brief, appearing for just 69 seconds and speaking only six words, with her face deliberately concealed throughout the film. This decision was made by director Jon M. Chu to preserve individual audience interpretations of the character.
Director Jon M. Chu and star Cynthia Erivo emphasized that keeping Dorothy's face hidden allows viewers to maintain their personal vision of the character. They stated the sequel's narrative firmly centers on Elphaba and Glinda's story, with Dorothy serving a supporting role. Weaver, a graduate of The Urdang Academy, has previous theatre experience alongside her current profession.
The film's stars, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, have been actively promoting "Wicked: For Good" globally. Recently, Erivo recounted a frightening incident where Grande was ambushed on the red carpet during the Singapore premiere by an intruder, whom Erivo swiftly intervened to push away. The incident led to the intruder's arrest and sentencing.
