Cannes' Iconic Martinez Hotel Becomes White Lotus Set

The historic Hôtel Martinez in Cannes is preparing to host the production of HBO's acclaimed series, 'The White Lotus,' for its fourth season. Set to be reimagined as 'White Lotus Cannes,' the iconic Art Deco hotel, originally opened in 1929, has long been a symbol of French Riviera glamour and spectacle.

Unlike previous 'White Lotus' filming locations that were resorts, Hôtel Martinez is an independent luxury hotel within the Hyatt Unbound Collection. Its nearly 100-year history positions it as a star in its own right, having been a definitive French Riviera beach club decades before the trend became global.

The production is expected to fully or partially buy out hotel locations, immersing itself in the destination, similar to past seasons. While filming has not officially commenced, discussions have been ongoing for over a year, with hotel staff even visiting the active Saint-Tropez set.

Although the exact check-in date for the new 'White Lotus' guests remains unannounced, booking calendars show availability blocked off in June and September, suggesting filming will occur in the near future. The hotel's existing infrastructure, including its beach, pool, and event spaces, makes it uniquely suited for the demands of a high-profile production like 'The White Lotus.'
