Dongnan Chen's documentary, 'Whispers in May,' has clinched the prestigious DOX:AWARD at the CPH:DOX festival in Copenhagen. The jury lauded its "charming" narrative, describing it as a modern-day fairytale that sensitively handles the transition from childhood.
The festival presented multiple awards across various categories. The FIPRESCI AWARD went to Nathan Grossman's 'Amazomania,' focusing on an expedition to contact an isolated Indigenous tribe in the Amazon. 'Just Look Up,' by Emma Wall and Betsy Hershey, won the F:ACT AWARD for its look at young climate activists.
Further accolades included Irene Bartolomé's 'Dream of Another Summer' for the NEXT:WAVE AWARD, highlighting daring creative approaches, and Maryam Ebrahimi's 'The Phantom Pain of Rojava' for the HUMAN:RIGHTS AWARD. Several films received Special Mentions, recognizing emerging talents and compelling narratives across all competitions.
