It's been 14 years since the release of the 2005 film adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, but the cast has continued to find remarkable success in the years since. Keira Knightley, who played the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet, has gone on to earn both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for her acclaimed performance.
"Pride & Prejudice was so amazing because I had been so obsessed with it since I was about 8," Knightley reflected in a 2019 interview. The film also marked a turning point, as it was the first time Knightley had worked with a group of peers her own age, which she found "really fun."
Knightley's co-star, Matthew Macfadyen, had his breakout role as the intense Mr. Darcy. However, Macfadyen revealed in a 2024 interview that he "didn't really" enjoy making the film, wishing he had been "less worried about it." Despite his mixed feelings, Macfadyen has since found great success, most notably starring in the hit HBO series Succession.
Meanwhile, Carey Mulligan, who played the youngest Bennet sister Kitty, has gone on to earn two Oscar nominations, for Promising Young Woman in 2021 and Maestro in 2024. As she reflected, landing the role of Kitty in Pride & Prejudice was "the dream job" for her first acting gig.
The Pride & Prejudice ensemble has continued to thrive in the 14 years since the beloved period drama first captivated audiences worldwide.
