In 2025, the cast of the beloved 80s sitcom The Hogan Family is leading very different lives compared to their on-screen personas. Valerie Harper, who played the Hogan matriarch, sadly passed away in August 2019 at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer. However, her mark on television endures long past her early exit from the show.
Sandy Duncan, who joined the series in season 3 as the boys' aunt and surrogate mother figure, remains professionally active. The accomplished actress, singer, dancer, and comedian is set to star in a production of The Glass Menagerie at the Mountain Playhouse and will also appear in the play "Creating Claire" at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick.
Meanwhile, Jason Bateman, who played the eldest Hogan son, David, has become a Hollywood heavyweight. After the show wrapped in 1991, he had a breakthrough with Arrested Development and later Ozark, for which he won a Primetime Emmy for directing. In 2025, Bateman stars in the Netflix limited series Black Rabbit and is also teaming up with David Harbour for HBO's dark comedy DTF St. Louis, taking on both lead and executive producer duties.
